Prompt: Challenge 554 - Angel
Word count: 250
Note: Title taken from the lyrics of 'Angel' by Aerosmith
Lena Luthor was dead.
Being thrown from a fast flying spaceship a couple of miles above National City was not survivable.
She watched the ship soar away, soon becoming a distant silver streak. The city was laid out below her like a map. A map she was quickly zooming in on. She tried to use her scientific mind to think. She had nothing on her that could help. Could she plan to land a certain way? No, at the speed she’d impact her bones would be shattered and her flesh pulped no matter how she orientated herself.
The panic was overwhelming. The rush of air was cold on her skin and loud in her ears.
She was breathing her last. Her number was up. She was a dead woman falling. She closed her eyes.
The angel had no wings. She was clad in blue and red and she was the most beautiful thing Lena had ever seen.
Suddenly Lena wasn’t falling anymore. She was floating. Strong arms held her and her arms went instinctively around the angel’s neck.
Lena took deep breaths. She wasn’t falling. She was alive.
“You saved me Supergirl.”
“Up here you can call me Kara, there’s no one around,” Supergirl smiled.
“Once you sort that spaceship out and we’re back on the ground I’ll thank you properly, Kara.”
“Can’t wait,” Kara gave Lena a quick kiss on the lips and swooped down to find somewhere safe to land and leave Lena while she saved the day.
