She watches as Kennedy walks away, tears brimming in her eyes. She waits, her bottom lip quivering with her barely held control, until the dark-haired Slayer whom she's loved for years is no longer within sight to see her break down. Then she does just that, turning, falling into her best friend's waiting arms, and weeping openly and uncontrollably.
She can't believe Kennedy finally saw through her charade. Buffy still doesn't understand. Willow knows she never will, but she does. Love has always been elusive for them both, and it will remain so. They can't find love, because they already have love. She's loved Buffy almost since the first time she saw her, though it took her a while to understand her feelings for her heroine. She loved Oz, Xander, Tara, and Kennedy, too, but nobody like she does Buffy.
She knows Buffy loves her. She can feel it in her every touch, every stroke of her hair, every caress of her skin. She sees it in her beautiful, green eyes every time she saves her from certain death and when she worries about her inner darkness, too. Willow's also smart enough, though, and knows her friend well enough to realize that Buffy will never admit to being in love with a woman. She'll keep going from man to man until she dies, because she can love none of them. She can love of them for her heart will always belong to Willow, just as hers will forever be hers.
